ABOUT ME

Hello! I’m Robert

I have also been a primary therapist at the Acorn therapy centre, in Drogheda, for over 10 years. I am registered with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (IACP).

Academically, I have a BA degree in Addiction & Behaviour as well as Diplomas in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Children and adolescents and a wide range of additional training.

I maintain two practices, one in Drogheda (Acorn Therapy Centre), also I run my own practice in Dundalk.

My areas of expertise include:

  • elevated anxiety and/or disruptive behaviours,
  • social skills training,
  • anxiety disorders, across all age groups;
  • eating,
  • coping skills
  • addiction.

My goal as a counsellor

My goal as a therapist is to teach you skills, so that you are better equipped to effectively manage emotional distress and reduce problematic behaviours.

I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and integrate this with other approaches drawing on aspects of the unconscious, relationships and wider social contexts.

I approach therapy in a collaborative manner, using therapeutic interventions tailored to the unique needs and strengths of each client, while providing a safe and confidential space for my client.

What I Treat

Our feelings and behaviour are largely a product of our thoughts (cognitions). CBT aims to help us identify these thoughts and underlying beliefs and ultimately to alter the unhelpful ones through intervening by talking, thinking and changing behaviour patterns.
